Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

School times have changed. The regular school time will be: 7:50 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. Students are late if they arrive to class after 7:50 a.m. Students eating breakfast should arrive to school by 7:30 a.m.

Safety is priority for our children therefore, we provide adult supervision beginning at 7:00 a.m. Parents/Guardians may drop off students beginning at 7:00 a.m. Breakfast is served between 7:00 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.

Dismissal begins at 3:15 p.m. therefore, students will not be checked out of school AFTER 2:45 p.m. When children are taken out of school early, they are missing valuable learning time. We encourage you to allow your child to complete their entire school day.

When picking up car riders, please do not park in the “No Parking” zones along Hamill Road and get out of your car to pick up a car rider. We have a procedure for car rider dismissal and thanks to our parents, it is working more efficiently everyday! Just a reminder that all car riders should be picked up in a car in front of the school in the designated driveway. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

Morning Drop Off:  School doors open to the students at 7:00 a.m.  Parents will know that students can enter the building when a staff member from Johnson is on duty on the front car ramp.  For your child’s safety, please do not drop off children until 7:00 a.m. Attending staff do not arrive until 7:00 a.m.

Car Riders:  As you approach the car ramp in the morning or afternoon, please take note of the personnel standing for assistance.  All cars entering the driveway must form one line. Please pull all the way forward past the entrance walkway to the first person on duty.  There are several staff members out on the ramp for your convenience.  This will make loading and unloading efficient for all.  Please do not pull into the driveway leading to the back of the building.  This area is only for Aldine buses, delivery vehicles and Johnson staff members.

Dismissal Information:
Each child will be issued a tag stating their form of transportation home. We will have tags available on Meet the Teacher Night. Otherwise, students will be given a tag on the first day of school. Please makes sure that the teacher knows how your child will go home on the first day of school so that they are properly tagged.  If you should need to change transportation for your child, please make those changes in person at the school. ALL CHANGES OF TRANSPORTATION MUST BE MADE BEFORE 2:30 p.m. We want to be sure that each child arrives home safely.

Car Riders:  Each car rider will be given a car tag for dismissal.  These will be given out at Student Orientation on August 18th and available in the front office. Please keep this in your car.  When picking your child up in the afternoon, please hang this card on your rear view mirror.  If you do not have a car rider tag when picking up a child in the afternoon, you will be asked to park your car and come inside to pick up your child.  A photo ID will be required. Also if a friend or babysitter will be picking your child up please make sure they are in the system and designated as having permission to pick up your child.  No child will be released to anyone that is not in the systemOn the car ramp all adults picking up students must be inside their cars.  Please do not stand on the sidewalk and wait.  Please do not get out of your car to get your child. This will only delay dismissal.

Walkers: Students who are designated walkers, will be released at 3:25 pm each day. This is to ensure safety during their dismissal. Students will be escorted to the side gate to walk home. This is the gate facing Hamill Rd. Students will be escorted away from the school to the crosswalk. Kinder and PK parents may meet students at the gate and show tags to pick up their student. All other students will be escorted to the crosswalk. Parents may meet those students at the cross walk.  Due to the closure of the Pine Village entrance street, cars will not be allowed to park in the area. Any parent in a car will need to join the car rider line. Students who are walkers will not be released to parents in cars. Please do not park on the sides of the streets around the school. This is dangerous for our walkers as we have many students who are walking home.
